Legacy

Legacy is an English word name referring to something passed on or left behind. That can mean an inheritance, a tradition, a body of work, or the lasting effect of a person's actions. As a baby name, its appeal often lies in the idea of continuity between generations rather than in a single physical possession.

Unlike a traditional name built from older personal-name elements, Legacy carries its meaning through an everyday English word. The association can be personal: a family story, a shared value, or a relative's influence may give it significance. Artist and writer Legacy Russell is a real-world bearer. The name is used for boys and girls, and its word meaning stays the same in either case.
