Link

Link is an English word name suggesting a connection or joining point. It can also be a short form of Lincoln, in which case the name’s history comes through the place name rather than the everyday word. Those two explanations offer different reasons for choosing the same compact four-letter form.

For many people, Link immediately recalls the hero of The Legend of Zelda games. That recognizable fictional association can be a central part of its appeal, although the name does not require a gaming connection. A family honoring a Lincoln may prefer Link as an everyday form, while another may choose it independently for the idea of connection. Both uses leave it complete and easy to distinguish in writing.
