Luci

Luci is a short form associated with Lucia and Lucille, names ultimately connected with Latin lux, meaning light. It is also close to English Lucy, which belongs to the same family. The final i changes the appearance of the familiar name without creating a separate root or a different literal meaning.

Lucia has different pronunciations in different languages, so a family's intended longer connection may help explain how it uses Luci. In English, the spelling is often heard like Lucy, but that need not settle every international use. Chosen independently, Luci keeps the light association in a compact form. It can honor a longer family name while preserving the shorter version used in ordinary conversation.
