Lucky

Lucky is an English word name expressing good fortune. Unlike an older name whose meaning must be reconstructed from several languages, its central idea is immediately understandable to an English speaker. As a personal name, it can express gratitude for a child’s arrival or a hopeful wish, without promising how that child’s life will unfold.

It has been used as a full given name as well as a familiar nickname. Public examples include the children of singer Elle King and entertainer Cedric the Entertainer, illustrating use for boys and girls. Luckie is a spelling alternative, but Lucky keeps the ordinary English word most clearly visible. It does not need a longer formal expansion.
