Lyndon

Lyndon is an English surname taken from a place name generally explained as a hill with lime or linden trees. The older hill element differs from the tree name Linden by itself. The tree called lime in British English is a linden, not the citrus tree that produces green limes.

Lyndon B. Johnson, the thirty-sixth president of the United States, is the name’s most prominent historical bearer. His association can be important for some families, while others choose Lyndon through a surname or its landscape meaning. The name is also used for girls, although its best-known bearer was a man. Lyndon therefore offers both a specific woodland image and a substantial modern political association.
