Maisey

Maisey is a spelling of Maisie, the Scottish familiar form associated with Mairead and Margaret. The family’s deeper root is Greek margarites, meaning pearl. Its affectionate beginnings connect it with a longer traditional name, while its modern use also allows it to stand independently on a birth certificate.

Maisie, Maisy, and Maisey preserve much the same English sound, with the endings giving each a different written shape. The pearl meaning comes through Margaret rather than through the French word for daisy, even though French Marguerite can also name that flower. Maisey can make an indirect tribute to a Margaret or Mairead while retaining the shorter form a family prefers to use every day.
