Maliah

Maliah is an English-language spelling variation of Malia, the Hawaiian form of Mary. Through that family, it reaches the ancient name Miriam, whose original meaning remains uncertain. Bitter is one traditional explanation, but it should not be treated as the only established meaning of Maliah.

The final h gives this spelling a different finish while leaving the Malia connection visible. Malia is the Hawaiian form itself; Maliah reflects a later spelling choice, since h is not part of that original ending. For a family honoring a Mary or Malia, the connection can still be meaningful, with the exact lettering chosen to preserve a personal preference or an inherited family form.
