Maximillian

Maximillian is a spelling of Maximilian, a name connected with Latin maximus, meaning greatest. The doubled l gives this form a slightly fuller appearance while preserving the same underlying name family. Its long shape belongs to a tradition of formal European names with several syllables and a clear short form.

Max provides an easy everyday option, allowing the name to move between a substantial full form and a very brief familiar one. Maximilian is the more traditional spelling to compare when deciding how to write it. For families choosing Maximillian, the difference lies chiefly in the lettering rather than in a separate meaning or an independently developed historical name.
