Mayzie

Mayzie is a spelling of Maisie, a familiar form connected with Scottish Mairead and the wider Margaret family. Through that history, it carries the meaning “pearl.” The z makes the middle sound visible on the page, while the beginning also brings the month of May to mind. That seasonal image is an additional association rather than the original source of the name's meaning.

The exact spelling appears in the world of Dr. Seuss, including the title Daisy-Head Mayzie. This gives it a playful children's-literature connection alongside its older name family. Mayzie can stand alone while still honoring a Margaret or Maisie in the family. Its spelling may need an occasional introduction, particularly where listeners are more familiar with Maisie, but the spoken relationship is easy to hear.
