Miran

Miran has established meanings in more than one language tradition. In Slavic usage, it can be connected with a word for calm or with mir, “peace,” and may also serve as a short form of Miroslav. In Kurdish, it is associated with “prince,” through the Persian title mir. These are separate routes, not a combined translation.

The shared spelling can make Miran especially interesting to families with connections across cultures. Slovenian writer Miran Jarc is one bearer within the Slavic tradition. A family may choose one particular meaning or appreciate how the name travels between languages, while still being clear about its own background. Its two-syllable form is complete enough to use without expanding it to another name.
