Mohamad

Mohamad is one of the Roman-letter spellings of the Arabic name Muhammad, meaning “praised” or “praiseworthy.” The different spellings reflect how an Arabic name is represented in other writing systems, rather than separate meanings. Its central religious association is with the Prophet Muhammad, making it an important name in Muslim families across many countries and languages.

A family's spelling may reflect local practice, an older relative's records, or the form used in the country where they live. Mohamad therefore carries both a widely shared name history and a particular family choice. When comparing it with Mohammad or Mohammed, consistency on documents matters more than treating one transliteration as the only correct version. The shorter written form keeps the full religious and linguistic connection intact.
