Morgana

Morgana is a feminine form related to Morgan, a name with Welsh roots. Morgan’s older form, Morcant, is often connected with an element meaning sea, but the full derivation remains uncertain. Sea circle is one proposed interpretation rather than a secure translation of every form in the family.

The name also evokes Morgan le Fay in Arthurian storytelling, where her character changes across different versions of the legends. Morgana’s final a gives that familiar name family a fuller, distinctly feminine form. It is separate from the similar-looking Morgiana in the Arabian Nights, whose resemblance does not establish the same origin. For a family drawn to Arthurian names, Morgana offers a clear literary atmosphere while preserving the uncertainty around its deeper Welsh etymology.
