Nickolas

Nickolas is a spelling of Nicholas, from Greek Nikolaos. The older name combines elements for victory and people, conventionally expressed as “victory of the people.” The inserted k does not change that meaning, although it makes the connection with the familiar nickname Nick especially visible.

Nicholas and Nikolas are the closest full-name comparisons. The wider family has a long Christian history through Saint Nicholas, but Nickolas is the particular written form chosen by an individual family. It can preserve an honor connection while differing from a relative's spelling. Separate spellings also have separate birth-record counts, so a figure for Nicholas should not automatically be reported as the popularity of Nickolas.
