Nikko

Nikko is a short form associated with Nicholas, a Greek-origin name traditionally interpreted as “victory of the people.” The doubled k distinguishes it from Niko and Nico without introducing a separate root. It can also be used as the full given name rather than only as a nickname for Nicholas.

The form preserves Nicholas’s opening sound while replacing the longer ending with o. That makes Nikko a useful option when a family wants a clear namesake connection but a shorter everyday rhythm. Other uses of the same letters in different languages should be considered separately; this explanation concerns Nikko specifically within the Nicholas name family.
