Oakley

Oakley comes from an English place name and surname associated with an oak wood or clearing. Its tree connection is part of the meaning, not just an image suggested by the opening letters. That distinguishes it from an invented name that happens to contain “oak.”

Annie Oakley gives the surname a familiar American historical association. Oakley has also been used as a first name for generations, alongside its modern use for boys and girls. Oaklee and Oakleigh are alternative spellings with a similar English sound, but Oakley preserves the familiar surname form. With two syllables and a clear tree connection, it sits naturally alongside other landscape names without requiring a nickname or a longer formal version.
