Otis

Otis comes through a surname connected with the Otto name family, whose Germanic root concerns wealth or fortune. In American naming, the surname of Revolutionary-era figure James Otis provided an important historical association. The name therefore has a surname and personal-name history rather than being a new English word for prosperity.

Otto is a related comparison with a different ending, while Otis keeps two distinct syllables. The title The Adventures of Milo and Otis gives it a familiar film association. Families can choose Otis for an ancestor, a historical figure, or its sound without treating its wealth-related root as a prediction about the child's future.
