Ozzy

Ozzy can be a short form of names such as Oswald, Osmond, or Oscar, and it is also used independently. Those longer names have different roots, so meanings involving divinity or deer should not be combined into one definition of every Ozzy. The intended family connection supplies the most useful explanation.

Musician Ozzy Osbourne gives the spelling a particularly strong cultural association; in his case, the nickname connects with his surname. Ozzie is the closest written alternative. Parents can register Ozzy directly or use it alongside a longer form. The doubled z makes the spelling recognizable, while the full two-syllable nickname is already easy to use in everyday speech.
