Paityn

Paityn is a modern spelling in the Payton and Peyton family. The older forms began as English surnames associated with place names, whose endings contain the familiar settlement element. The first parts have different historical explanations, so a single literal translation is less secure than the clear relationship with that surname family.

The ai and y give Paityn a distinctive appearance while preserving the familiar sound. Its use as a first name has been especially associated with girls in American records, though related spellings are used for both boys and girls. Families comparing Paityn with Payton or Peyton are choosing among written forms of a shared naming tradition, often guided by a surname connection or personal preference.
