Perla

Perla is the word for “pearl” in Spanish and Italian and is also used as a personal name. The gemstone meaning is direct, rather than reconstructed from several older name elements. Pearls form within mollusks, which makes the name part of a nature tradition as well as a group of jewel names.

Pearl is its English word-name counterpart, but Perla has its own established spelling and sound in the languages that use it. A family choosing the name can preserve that linguistic connection instead of treating it only as an embellished English Pearl. Its two-syllable form is complete on its own, and the gemstone association does not require a longer formal name.
