Rayna

Rayna can be associated with more than one name family, including Raina and the Spanish queen-related forms Reina and Reyna. These connections do not establish one meaning for every Rayna. In particular, a specific translation such as “song of the Lord” should not be assumed solely from this English-letter spelling.

Ray offers a concise everyday shortening, while the full name has two syllables. The character Rayna Jaymes in Nashville gives the spelling a familiar television association. If a family chooses Rayna as a form of Reina, keeping that intention explicit helps explain the royal meaning; another family may be preserving a different linguistic or personal tradition.
