Rayne

Rayne can be chosen as a modern spelling of the English nature name Rain. It is also found as a surname, and a particular family may use it through that route rather than the weather word. The often-listed meaning “queen” reflects a proposed connection with other forms such as Raine, not a universal translation of every Rayne.

Rayne keeps the single-syllable sound while giving it a fuller written shape than Rain. Raine is the closest spelling comparison, and Reign is a sound-alike with a different word meaning. Parents can decide whether the rainfall image or an ancestral name is the intended connection, then choose a spelling that makes their own preference clear.
