Rivky

Rivky is a Yiddish diminutive associated with Rivka, the Hebrew form of Rebecca. Rebecca's older meaning is often connected with binding or tying, although the precise etymology is not completely certain. The biblical figure is Isaac's wife and the mother of Jacob and Esau, giving the family of names a specific scriptural history.

The y ending marks Rivky as a familiar form, but it can also be used as a full official name. It is particularly recognizable in Jewish naming traditions, where a diminutive may preserve an honor connection while supplying an everyday form. Rivka and Rebecca help explain that connection without assuming every Rivky has either one as a longer legal name.
