Robyn

Robyn is a spelling variation of Robin, which developed as a familiar form of Robert. Robert belongs to a Germanic name family associated with bright fame. Robin also names a bird in English, giving the spelling a nature association that can coexist with, but should not replace, the older personal-name history.

The y distinguishes Robyn visually while usually preserving Robin's pronunciation. Robyn is used for boys and girls, and it can stand as a full name without a longer Robert behind it. A family might choose it for a relative, the bird association, or simply the sound. Those personal reasons do not require treating each spelling as a separate linguistic origin.
