Romina

Romina is an Italian name that may be connected with Romana, a name referring to Rome. The relationship is proposed rather than fully certain, so a definite translation should be treated carefully. The Arabic explanation sometimes attached to Romina is not a secure account of this Italian naming tradition.

Romi and Romy provide short forms also used for other names, including Rosemary. Sharing a nickname does not make those longer names identical in origin. Singer Romina Arena supplies a familiar example of the full name. Romina’s three syllables and final a distinguish it from shorter Roma, giving parents a different rhythm while preserving the possible Roman connection.
