Ryker

Ryker may come from Riker, a surname connected with a Low German word for rich. That is a proposed derivation, rather than evidence that Ryker is an old German given name with one unquestioned meaning. Its use as a modern English first name also fits the sound pattern of Ryder, Riley, and other names beginning with Ry.

Riker is the closest spelling comparison, while Ryker makes the long first vowel visually prominent. The New York place name Rikers Island may be an association for some readers, but it does not determine a family's reason for using the name. The two-syllable form generally stands without a nickname.
