Santana

Santana comes from a condensed form of Santa Ana, meaning “Saint Anne” in Spanish. It is familiar as a surname and can also be used as a given name. The saint's name provides the immediate historical connection; it should not be reinterpreted as an unrelated modern phrase simply because the spelling has become a single word.

Musician Carlos Santana and the band bearing his surname give the name a strong musical association. Santana Lopez in Glee provides a separate fictional reference. The full name has three syllables, with Santi available as a family shortening. Parents may choose it through a surname, a religious connection, or appreciation for its sound while keeping those reasons distinct.
