Sarai

Sarai is a Hebrew biblical name traditionally interpreted as “my princess.” In Genesis, Sarai receives the name Sarah, so the two have a specific narrative connection as well as related meanings. Sarai is not merely a recent alternate spelling invented from Sarah.

A family honoring a Sarah can choose Sarai to preserve that older biblical link while using a different sound. Sara is another related form, with its own familiar spelling. Pronunciation can vary across language traditions, making an aloud introduction useful. Sarai is concise enough to use in full without a nickname or a longer formal expansion.
