Sitara

Sitara is an Urdu name meaning star, drawn from a Persian word that entered Urdu vocabulary. It offers a celestial meaning through a language with a rich poetic tradition, where stars can become images of distance, hope, or beauty. Those associations build on the literal word rather than changing its basic translation.

The name also appears in the animated short film Sitara: Let Girls Dream, giving it a modern storytelling connection alongside its established linguistic background. For families using Urdu, the meaning can be immediately recognizable; for others, it introduces a specific word rather than a generic idea of the night sky. Its connection with Persian helps explain how the name traveled between neighboring cultural traditions.
