Stacy

Stacy has a history as an English surname and first name connected with Stace, a medieval form of Eustace. It is also commonly treated as a short form of Anastasia, though its modern use for girls developed independently as well. Those overlapping histories make a single brief meaning less useful than understanding the name family behind a particular choice.

The Anastasia connection brings an association with resurrection, while the Eustace route belongs to a different Greek-rooted tradition. Stacy has been used for both boys and girls, and Stacey, Staci, and Stacie are familiar spellings. A family honoring an older Stacy can preserve that exact form, carrying forward a personal history rather than needing to select one disputed general gloss.
