Susana

Susana is a Spanish and Portuguese form of Susanna, ultimately related to the Hebrew name Shoshana, traditionally translated as lily. It belongs to the same broad family as Susan and Suzanne, with each language giving the older name its own written and spoken form. The flower meaning remains a familiar connection across those adaptations.

Susanna's story appears in the additions to Daniel included in some Christian biblical traditions, while another Susanna is mentioned in the New Testament. Those distinct references give the name family more than one religious association. Susana keeps a single n in its established Iberian spelling. Parents may choose it for a floral meaning, a family namesake, or a connection with Spanish or Portuguese language and heritage.
