Talon

Talon is an English word name referring to a claw, especially the curved claw of a bird of prey. The word entered English through French, although modern French talon usually means “heel.” As a given name, its strongest immediate English association is with birds such as hawks and eagles rather than a historical personal name.

That image gives Talon a more forceful natural style than names such as Robin or Wren. Its two syllables and familiar ending make the sound accessible despite the unusual word choice. Tallon offers a similar spelling, though a family surname with that form may have its own history. Parents considering Talon may want to weigh whether they enjoy its sharp animal association as much as its concise, modern sound.
