Taytum

Taytum is a spelling variation of Tatum, an English surname traditionally explained as Tate’s homestead. The y makes the first vowel more visible without changing the familiar two-syllable rhythm. The older surname explanation belongs to Tatum’s history, rather than to a new combination created by Taytum’s spelling.

Tay is a possible shortening, while the full name is brief enough to use on its own. Tate is a useful related comparison within the traditional surname explanation, but it is not the entire meaning of Taytum. Families choosing between Tatum and Taytum can preserve the same connection while selecting a distinct written form.
