Valen

Valen is a shortened form associated with Valentino and Valentina, names from the Latin family connected with strength and good health. That meaning concerns the older root rather than a guarantee of health for the bearer. The short form can preserve the longer names’ history while offering a different everyday shape.

Because it can connect with either Valentino or Valentina, Valen is not limited to one gender by its construction. It also need not be expanded on formal documents when chosen as the complete given name. A family using it to honor someone named Valentine, Valentino, or Valentina can retain the shared opening without reproducing the full name exactly.
