Weldon

Weldon is an English surname associated with the Northamptonshire place of the same name. Its Old English elements refer to a spring or stream and a hill, giving it a meaning rooted in the local landscape. Like many place-based surnames, it could identify a family through the location from which its members came.

Used as a first name, Weldon keeps that geographical history while fitting alongside other established surname names ending in on. It can be especially meaningful when it already appears in a family tree, since a surname carried into the first-name position preserves a visible connection across generations. The water-and-hill imagery offers a gentle background to the name, although its original purpose was practical identification rather than poetic description.
