Xzavier

Xzavier is a modern spelling of Xavier, whose history leads to a Basque place name meaning “new house.” The familiar personal name spread through Saint Francis Xavier, whose name referred to his family home. The added z changes the written form but does not create an extra element in that older meaning.

Xavier is the most direct comparison for learning the name's history. Xzavier may make a family's intended opening sound more apparent, although pronunciations of the wider Xavier family vary. The spelling is distinctive enough that it may need to be supplied carefully in records. That practical difference is more useful than treating the extra letter as evidence of a separate cultural origin.
