Antoni

Antoni is a Polish and Catalan form of the Roman name Antonius, the same family that produced Anthony and Antonio. The original meaning of Antonius is uncertain. Interpretations such as “priceless” are often repeated, but the name's documented history is a stronger foundation than a confident translation of its ancient root.

The final i gives Antoni a form that is complete in its own languages, rather than simply an English nickname for Anthony. It can be a useful choice for families preserving a Polish or Catalan connection while remaining recognizable to English speakers. Related forms such as Antonio show how widely the Roman name traveled. Pronunciation and stress differ between languages, so a family can introduce the version that reflects its own heritage or preference.
