Ari

Ari can be a Hebrew name meaning lion or a short form of Ariel, which includes an additional element referring to God. It can also shorten unrelated Ari names, such as Aristotle. The meaning therefore depends on the particular name family a household intends.

The character Ari Gold in Entourage provides one familiar association. Ari is brief enough to stand as the complete name, with no need for a longer formal version. Families honoring an Ariel can explain that connection, while those using it independently can retain the simpler Hebrew lion meaning rather than automatically expanding it to “lion of God.”
