Blaze

Blaze can be chosen directly from the English word for a bright, vigorous flame. In that use, its meaning is literal fire, with brightness and energy as natural associations. It can also be used as a spelling of Blaise, a traditional name with a different Latin background. The shared sound does not make fire the original meaning of Blaise.

The spelling Blaze makes the English word especially prominent, even when a family intends to honor someone named Blaise. Musician Blaze Bayley is a recognizable bearer of the name. Because it is already a single compact word, it usually functions without a longer formal version, and its imagery comes from the visible flame rather than a borrowed title or surname.
