Devyn

Devyn is a modern spelling associated with Devin and Devon. Those names can lead to different surname or place-name histories, including an Irish route for Devin and the English county name Devon. It is therefore misleading to treat poet and a Devon place connection as a single certain translation of Devyn.

The y changes the written form while usually keeping the familiar two-syllable sound. Devyn has been used for boys and girls, so the spelling alone does not define one use. Families choosing it as an honor name may want to identify whether the original connection is with Devin, Devon, or a specific surname before deciding how to tell its story.
