Dianna

Dianna is a spelling of Diana with a doubled n. Diana is the name of the Roman goddess associated with hunting, wild places, and later the moon, and its word history is connected with the divine or heavenly. The personal name carries that classical association even when chosen for a relative or simply for its familiar sound.

The doubled consonant distinguishes Dianna on the page without creating a separate ancient origin. Actress Dianna Agron provides a modern bearer of this particular spelling, while Diana remains the more direct spelling of the mythological name. Di or Annie can be used as short forms. For parents considering Dianna, the main decision is often whether this is the spelling that best preserves a family connection, alongside the shared Roman story behind both forms.
