Dominick

Dominick is a spelling of Dominic, a name derived from Latin dominicus, meaning belonging to the Lord. The name belongs to a long Christian naming tradition, although the final k is a spelling choice rather than a change in its meaning. It keeps the same basic history as other forms in the Dominic family.

Nick is a familiar shorter option made especially visible by the ending. Dominic removes the final k, while Italian Domenico gives the related name a different rhythm. Dominick can stand in full or function alongside a nickname, allowing a family to preserve an inherited spelling without changing the form used in everyday conversation.
