Graysen

Graysen is a modern spelling of Grayson, an English surname traditionally explained as “son of the steward.” The older surname connection is different from the immediate impression of the color gray. Both associations can matter to a family, but the color should not replace the surname’s established explanation without qualification.

The -sen ending changes the appearance while often preserving the same English sound as Grayson or Greyson. It does not automatically make Graysen a Scandinavian name, even though -sen occurs in Scandinavian surnames. Gray is a natural shorter form. The name can preserve the sound of an inherited Grayson while making a deliberate spelling distinction on official records.
