Hendrik

Hendrik is a Dutch and German form of Henry, from an old Germanic name combining home with rule or power. Home ruler is the usual concise interpretation of those elements. The name's consonants preserve a form closer to its continental European history than the shorter English Henry.

The same wider family includes Heinrich in German and Henrik in several northern European languages, showing how an old compound developed distinct local forms. Hendrik can honor a Henry while reflecting Dutch family language or records. Its full form is well established as a given name, so it does not need to be treated as a surname or as a decorative respelling of English Henry.
