Jackie

Jackie is an established familiar form used for both Jack and Jacqueline. Those longer names have different family histories: Jack usually comes through John, meaning God is gracious, while Jacqueline belongs to the Jacques and Jacob family. The original full name, when there is one, therefore helps explain a particular Jackie's meaning.

Jackie Chan and Jacqueline Kennedy, widely known as Jackie, give the name two very different public associations. It has also been used as a complete first name rather than only as a nickname. Jacki and Jacqui are related written forms, with Jacqui making the Jacqueline connection more visible. Jackie keeps a familiar spelling that works across its several naming traditions.
