Jacklyn

Jacklyn is an English spelling of Jacqueline, the French feminine form of Jacques. Jacques belongs to the Jacob and James name family. In the biblical story of Jacob, the name is linked with a heel and with supplanting; an alternative historical explanation connects an older form with the idea “may God protect.” Those are different interpretations of the underlying name rather than meanings created by Jacklyn’s spelling.

Jacklyn presents the familiar pronunciation with fewer letters than Jacqueline and makes the short form Jack especially visible. Jackie is another established everyday option. Actress Jacklyn Zeman, known for General Hospital, is a recognizable bearer of this spelling. For a family honoring a Jacques, Jacob, or Jacqueline, Jacklyn keeps that connection while using a distinct English written form.
