Kacey

Kacey is a spelling of Casey and can also represent the spoken initials K. C. Through Casey, it connects with an Irish surname derived from Ó Cathasaigh, whose personal-name element is commonly explained as “vigilant” or “watchful.” The frequently repeated “brave in battle” gloss is not the only account and should not displace that more established surname explanation.

Singer Kacey Musgraves is a familiar bearer of this spelling. Kacey is used for boys and girls, with the same possible origins, and its two-syllable rhythm is already informal without requiring a nickname. Casey, Kacie, and Kaci are alternatives to compare. If the name honors two initials rather than the surname, that family story supplies a separate and equally clear reason for choosing it.
