Kapri

Kapri is a modern spelling of Capri, the Italian island name. The island connection gives it a geographical meaning, but it does not establish a separate Italian word beginning with k. The older origin of Capri itself has been explained in different ways, so a simple animal translation should not be supplied without qualification.

Capri is the clearest comparison for the place and its history. Kapri changes the opening letter while leaving the familiar island sound recognizable to English readers. It is also familiar as part of rapper Kodak Black's legal surname, a separate context from choosing a baby's name for the island. A family may intend either a place connection or another personal association.
