Karsten

Karsten is a northern European form in the Christian name family, closely related to Carsten. The meaning is follower of Christ or Christian. Its deeper root leads to the Greek title Christos, meaning anointed, but that shorter translation alone does not express the full meaning of Christian and its later forms.

The name is established in German and Nordic naming, where the k spelling fits familiar local conventions. Its connection with Christian may be less obvious to an English speaker than the connection between Christian and Kristian, making Karsten a less expected way to preserve the same family tradition. Carsten is the closest spelling to compare.
