Keagan

Keagan is a spelling variation of Keegan, an Irish surname used as a given name. The surname is traditionally explained as “son of Egan,” so its structure records a family relationship rather than a direct description of the bearer. The older personal name behind Egan adds another layer to that surname history.

Keegan is the most immediately recognizable comparison, while Keaghan is another written form. The change from ee to ea generally preserves the intended opening sound in English rather than establishing a separate root. Families may choose Keagan to match an existing surname spelling or distinguish a new bearer while retaining the same Irish name-family connection.
