Krystian

Krystian is the Polish form of Christian, rooted in the Latin Christianus. The name identifies a follower of Christ, giving it a direct religious meaning. Its spelling follows an established Polish tradition, with a K at the beginning and a y in the first syllable, rather than being a recent decorative alteration of the English form.

Pianist Krystian Zimerman is a well-known bearer who places the name in a Polish artistic context. The related feminine name is Krystyna, while Krystyn is another masculine form found in Polish. Families moving between Polish and English may recognize the close relationship with Christian even though the written forms differ. Krystian can therefore continue a Christian-family naming connection while keeping the particular language identity of the Polish form visible.
